The Yankee Fan

The third game of a four game series and I have as my guest, Eddy the Yankee fan.

I know, I know, but he's a good friend and I never held his MLB allegiance against him.

It's a gourgeous Sunday early, we check right in at Yawkey Way(?), and go downstairs for a couple more beers. The place isn't crowded, looks like it will be a family game. Not too many Yankee fans around. We exit the opposite end of the bar and are scanned back on to Yawkey Way. We grab food on the fly and make it to the seats right at first pitch.

There's a scattering of NY fans, a couple right in front of us and this guy has a huge skull. Talk about an obstructed view. This guys head is bigger than his wife's ass. Of course now that I think about, good for him.

Lowe sucks and gets the hook early, the Yankee fans celebrate. I tell them to go back to Jersey and the guy with the large skull starts:

Big Skulled Yankee fan Ah, you can't even get the state right.
Yeah, you New York fans are so much more sophisticated than us.
26 World Championships...
I'm familiar with history my man, doesn't mean shit today.
You guys got a history...
I bet you have a Mets cap in your closet just in case.
Actually I do...
I knew it, Ha Ha.

By the fourth inning I'm ready for another cocktail, I come back with the two beer limit and the woman on the aisle says "The least you could have done is got one for me." She looks like she could use a drink, so I hand her one. She takes it and I continue down the aisle to my seat. I expect a beer to come my way later, but it doesn't happen.

When Jeter comes up I give it a 'A-Rod's better' chant. The lady with the guy with the huge skull laughs, she knows I'm right. Later when Giambi hits I say 'Nice to know he stayed off the Twinkies this winter'. I get her again. It irks big skull.

The bullpen shuts down NY the rest of the way, but we don't get it done. Yanks win and Eddy digs it, but he's very concern about the state of the Great Empire.

Of course they do have 26 World Championships.....
