Or So It Would AppearLast home series of the season. Yankees in town. Last chance to try to steal the division from them. Pedro in game one. Good stuff, or so it would appear. Last weekend in the Bronx was a bitch, so we're looking to spank the Yankees around just for the sport of it; it looked like we had the bastards. Baseball is a funny game, but I didn't see the humor in what happened last night.
Fenway was cranking, many NY fans and the usual extra standing (no)room mob that comes with every Sox Yankee series. Beer sales seemed to be at the usual Friday night pace, I ran into a few drunk A-hole Red Sox fans. Didn't see any real fights break out. The errie uneasiness has returned. We're heading to the playoffs but we're not playing well at all, not getting the breaks like we did a month ago. What's up with Foulke? And how about Varitek. He's got to be losing his eyesight, he's not even close on called strikes. Yeah Shilling will be there, and Pedro really hasn't been horrible. Manny's Manny (please Baseball Gods, no Manny the spaceshot goofs that cost us a big game), Ortiz is scary, and we can still manufacture a run or two. Hopefully the shotty defense of late is just a bump. Yeah, they'll be tough in the playoffs, or so it would appear. I hate to keep bringing this up, but some people just discount the Yankees, they don't have the pitching, bottom of the order sucks. Guess who still has the most wins in the American League, not bad for a team that sucks. New York will continue to be the team to beat, and the team with the most to prove. Alex Rodriguez has a .249 batting average with men in scoring position this year. Where would this team be without Ramirez?
We're crashing in the Back Bay this weedend so we went downstairs for a couple of cold ones with lime after the game. Many in the crowd reported that they had serious flashbacks tonight. ESPN grade flashbacks. Very errie shit. Or so it would appear.
